Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Dec 1 : As the Assembly elections are approaching in Rajasthan, people of Bharatpur are demanding political support to promote tourism in the city, which is renowned for its World heritage site-Keoladeo National Park, formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
Every year thousands of tourists visit this sanctuary to watch thousands of aquatic birds from all across the globe, especially from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia.
But, due to water scarcity, the lakes in the sanctuary are unable to attract the birds as well as the tourists.
Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Oct. 23 : At least 22 persons including 12 children died and 35 injured in a tragic explosion that ripped through an illegal fireworks factory at Deeg in Bharatpur region of Rajasthan today.
The explosion took place in a house of a firecracker maker in the Deeg town. The blast caused a major fire, which engulfed a few houses in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, 10 people allegedly involved in illegal manufacturing of firecrackers were arrested after the explosion at Deeg. The explosion affected six other houses which collapsed due to the impact of blast.

Bharatpur, May 23 : Five persons were killed today in firing when Gujjars, demanding Scheduled Tribe status in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, clashed with police.
Police opened fire after agitated protestors clashed with them and torched two police jeeps in Karwar area in Bayana block of the district neighbouring Jaipur, officials said. One policeman was killed in the violence.
