Tesla Motors has delivered its first Model S electric cars to customers and marked the event with festivities attended by around one thousand people.

People gathered at the company's plant in Fremont on Friday to mark the occasion of the first delivery of the world's first premium electric sedan, as claimed by the company. The model is expected to turnaround the company, which has been suffering losses ever since it was established in 2003.

Tesla executives told the excited crowed, made up of mostly company employees, that the deliveries proved all those wrong who said that the company has no future. George Blankenship, Tesla's vice president for sales pointed out that many people had said that the company will never be able to launch the model in the market.

Elon Musk, Tesla's chief executive and co-founder said that the launch of the model will change the way cars are produced. Must said, "What this is really all about is breaking the illusion that electric cars are not as good as gas cars. We are showing that an electric car can in fact be the best car in the world."

He also said that the customers will find the car best in all aspects including performance, safety, technology, handling and styling.
