Thinkstation: Lenovo’s New Indentity

Lenovo_ThinkStationLenovo has entered the business workstation market with the launch of its new ThinkStation brand, which includes ThinkStation S10 and D10 workstations. Lenovo was the third largest PC maker in the world in the third quarter, behind Hewlett-Packard and Dell.

The dual processor ThinkStation D10 workstation will offer the Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 5400 series, while the single processor ThinkStation S10 workstation will offer the latest Intel® Core 2 processors including the Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor QX9650 along with the latest graphics solutions from NVIDIA

The company told that the systems were designed for companies seeking to perform graphics and computing-intensive jobs, such as engineering, CAD, digital content creation, design automation, and oil and gas exploration.

Peter Schrady, Vice President & GM, Emerging Products Group, Lenovo said “Lenovo designed the ThinkStation to be the highest performance, highest quality workstation, delivering an unparalleled experience for professional users who work in graphically and computationally intensive environments where a standard desktop PC isn’t enough.”

ThinkPad's already-established brand name and business focus should make it easier for Lenovo to market ThinkStation systems to businesses that are already ThinkPad customers.

The newly announced ThinkStation desktops from Lenovo will be available in India in January 2008. The ThinkStation S10 will be available in the Indian market at the price of Rs. 40,000 and above. While the D10 desktop will start at approximately Rs.62, 000 and above excluding taxes.

Lenovo's user-centric design includes a removable top handle for moving the workstation easily in a variety of work environments as well as a side cover latch for easy access to the system.

The both workstations supports dual gigabit Ethernet, high-end graphics controllers from Nvidia, and multiple USB ports, slots, and bays for peripherals and expandability. The systems also contain Lenovo's ThinkVantage technologies for rescue, recovery and security.

According to the company, all Lenovo workstations are designed to meet Energy Star 4.0 requirements, use 80 percent more efficient power supplies, and contain more than 50 percent recycled plastic.
