TN for 'country specific' industrial zones in the state

M K StalinThe Tamil Nadu government is eying global industry players to invest in the state, in an attempt to mitigate the impact of global slowdown. It has come up with 'country specific' industrial parks, in a bid to attract investment to boost up the slowing economy of the state.

TN Deputy Chief Minister, Mr M K Stalin, while presenting a policy note of industries in the state assembly, said that the government has identified some companies from various countries, having potential to invest in the state.

The State's industrial policy note maintains, 'Towards this, the government has issued orders for development of country specific industrial parks for Japan, Korea, Finland, German and France.'

State Industrial Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) has been entrusted with the task of developing these country specific parks to cater to the needs of prospective industry giants.

The state will offer adequate rehabilitation allowance and jobs, framing a special land acquisition policy for affected families. The policy note further held, 'Industrial units, which are allotted land in SIPCOT park are required to reserve ten per cent of direct jobs created by them for family members of the land owners, subject to the availability of skill and other qualifications.'
