TN Deputy CM to donate organs after deathTamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin has added another feather to his cap.

Stalin said that he would donate his organs to those in need.

He made this announcement at the launch of MODE (Miot Organ Drive) at MIOT Hospital at Manapakkam near Chennai on Friday.

He said that he wanted to create awareness among people on organ donation and its importance.

The minister further added that there was a vital requirement for organ donation as many lives could be saved by transplantation of the vital organs.

Speaking on this occasion, Stalin said: “Nothing can be compared to donating one's self after death. Rather than this body buried and consigned to flames, the vital organs could be donated to those in need of the same.”

Apart from the Deputy CM, his wife named Durgavathi Stalin also filled in the first application form conveying her wish to donate her organs.

Over 1500 applications for the organ donation were received at the hospital.

Speaking on this occasion, P.V.Mohandas (MD, MIOT Hospitals) said MODE was an initiative to mark the 10th anniversary of the hospital.

He also pointed out that MODE will spread awareness and answer all questions about organ donation. This data will also be passed on to the Government’s Organ Donor Programme.

Notably, Tamil Nadu remains the leader in donating organs in the country.
