Students should remember that health insurance coverage is a vital component of the international study experience. Looking at this, UCF will stand up to back a proposal that would require students to purchase health insurance if the rest of the state supports it as well.

Maribeth Ehasz, vice president of Student Development and Enrolment Services at UCF, said that the State Legislature had OPPAGA, a state-wide research group, study the issue of mandatory health insurance.

OPPAGA has undertaken a research in health centres at the 11 state universities in Florida to analyze the efficacy of the proposal, and suggests that adopting and implementing it state-wide would secure students in case of accident or illness, reduce student withdrawals and give universities a better ability to compensate the insurance policies.

The general search speculates the cost to vary between Rs 13,000-46,000 a year depending on its different levels of coverage. However, the cost is showed to be between Rs 8,000-15,000.

This coverage will include areas like impatient treatment, dental coverage, outpatient benefits, mental health therapy, maternity services, etc.

The student policy includes an additional cost even when the insurance company agrees to pay, unlike the issue of whether the claim has been passed or not in local health insurances.
