US growth at 3.3 per cent in second quarter

Washington - The United States economy grew at 3.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2008, the government said Thursday in revised figures that further eased fears of a recession.

The gross domestic product (GDP) figure was revised upward from an earlier estimate of 1.9 per cent for the quarter.

The growth was more than triple the 0.9 per cent rise in the first quarter. (dpa)
