Who’s Going To Win The American Idol’s 7th Season Title?

Who’s Going To Win The American Idol’s 7th Season Title? The two finalists yesterday night performed three songs each in their attempts to win the American Idol’s seventh season title. Well, the two dueling Davids – David Cook and David Archuleta gave outstanding performances in the live telecast before 7,000 people at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.

Each finalist performed three numbers - the first chosen by Sony BMG executive Clive Davis, the second selected by the singers from among 10 pieces penned by aspiring songwriters, and the third any song they wished to sing.

Clive Davis assigned U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" to Cook, and the Elton John ballad "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" to Archuleta. Judge Simon Cowell, who earlier on Tuesday predicted in a television appearance that Cook would triumph, firmly stated "Round 1 goes to David Archuleta."

The next set of songs was chosen from the "American Idol" songwriting contest's top 10 submissions. Cook went for "Dream Big" by Emily Shackelton, while Archuleta performed "In This Moment” by Ryan Gillmor. Commenting on the performances, Cowell said that Archuleta had definitely made the better choice, calling Cook's "a bit of a lightweight."

In the final round, Cook came out with "The World I Know" by Collective Soul. Cowell pronounced that it was "completely and utterly the wrong song choice for the night." Archuleta performed John Lennon's "Imagine". "You came out here tonight to win, and what we have witnessed is a knock out," said the American Idol's prickly judge Cowell.

Randy Jackson proclaimed, "The best singer of season 7 is right there" after Archuleta sang John Lennon's "Imagine," that song that earlier in the competition brought him some of his best feedback.

The fans, who have voted for their favorites after the broadcast, are now anxious to know – who will be the American Idol. The winner of the hit talent show will be announced at the end of Wednesday's live finale.
