Palma de Majorca, Spain - Spain's King Juan Carlos has sported a new look during his holidays on Majorca, with a short white beard, a tan and a thinner figure, local media reported Monday.

The 71-year-old monarch was seen presiding over the award ceremony of a regatta in the Majorca capital Palma.

"The beard suits him," the newspaper Ultima Hora said in its internet edition. "And this is not said just to praise him because he is the king." (dpa)
