Wedding preparations lead Malaysian groom-to-be to shoot himself

Kuala Lumpur - A Malaysian groom-to-be shot himself in the head with his father's gun after he was overcome with stress from his wedding preparations, a news report said Monday.

Mubarak Jamaluddin, 28, had taken his father's shotgun and shot himself in the forehead in his home in the central Pahang state on Saturday, said district police chief Ahmad Fadzillah Mohamed.

Family members said Mubarak was believed to have been bogged down by preparations for his impending wedding.

The victim's mother discovered the body after hearing the gunshot from his room.

"Police have confirmed that the weapon belonged to the victim's father and had a valid license," Ahmad was quoted as saying by the Malay-language Berita Harian daily. (dpa)
