Wii U flying off store shelves; Nintendo trying to keep pace with demand With the Sunday-launched Nintendo Wii U gaming console flying off the store shelves, GameStop has revealed that the console has already sold out at its stores worldwide, while some other stores have also reported that they are running low stocks of the device.

However, for the Nintendo aficionados who wish to purchase or gift the Wii U during the holiday season, Scott Moffitt - Executive VP of Sales and Marketing at Nintendo of America - has promised that more units of the console are being shipped.

During the course of a recent interview with Forbes, Moffitt said that regular shipments of the Wii U will be sent out by Nintendo for the holiday shopping season; and that the company was trying its best to ensure that the supply of the console can keep pace with its demand.

Attributing the brisk sales of the Wii U thus far to an overwhelming pre-order campaign as well as a robust launch-day lineup of gaming titles, Moffitt further added that Nintendo wants to ensure the potential buyers of the Wii U that there will be "new quantities" of the console available at the stores for them to "go in and buy."

However, Moffitt - who refrained from divulging region-wise details about the 5.5 million Wii U units which Nintendo is likely to sell from between the launch day and March 31 - also added that Wii U buyers may have to queue up at the stores, as the company expects "tremendous demand" during the holiday season.
