William Hill records operating profit of £335The company said that it recorded an operating profit of £335 million in the previous year and its revenues rose 18 per cent to £1.49 billion. The company's net retail revenue rose 10 per cent to the level of £907 million. Its online revenue rose 12 per cent to £446 million during the previous year.

William Hill has said that the online customers on smartphones and tablets during the year 2013 were more than those accessing the company's service through a PC. Britain's biggest bookmaker said that the users on smartphones and tablets surpassed PC customers for the first time during 2013.

Ralph Topping, the veteran chief executive, said: "Our focused transformation of the group over the last five years means William Hill is now one of the world's leading multi-channel betting and gaming businesses, with revenues diversified through the rapid growth of online and through careful expansion into selected international markets."

The company's international markets in Australia and the United States continued to grow and accounted for about 15 per cent of the company's overall revenues.
