March vehicle sales register growth

Auto-Sector-Sales-AustraliaSales of new vehicles in Australia grew at a record pace in the month of March this year, according to the Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

FCAI said in its recently released data that the vehicle sales were reported up by 25.2% in the month of March compared to the same month last year. For the year to March period, the sales of new vehicles were also reported up by 18.2%, signaling the improved confidence of the consumers.

The data released by FCAI showed that 94744 passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles were reported sold in the month of March, increasing by 25.2% while compared to the same month last year. A total of 75650 vehicles were sold in March 2009.

The sales in March this year also hit an all time high level beating the previous high in March 2007. In March 2007, there were reported 94392 vehicles sold in total. According to the data, SUV sales were reported up by 44.1% while the passenger cars sales were reported up by 23.5%. The sales of Heavy commercial vehicles and light commercial vehicles were reported up by 20.2% and 12% respectively in the month of March.

For the period of three months ended March 2010, the total sales were reported of 251827 vehicles, increasing by 18.2% while compared to the same period last year.
