Recognizing signs of dehydration

Recognizing signs of dehydrationSoaring temperatures and lack of liquids may bring about major dehydration.

Significant signs of recognizing dehydration are – dizziness to the extent of fainting in some cases, general weakness and fast heartbeat. Nausea, vomiting tendency, anxiety and a lot of sweating are also other symptoms.

Other people can make out whether a person is dehydrated or not by observing his pallor and profuse sweating. The dehydrated person will be unable to move normally, and will sit in a slumped manner, barely speaking.

It is mostly small children, adolescents, chronic illness patients and older adults who are affected most by dehydration. It is, however, impossible to determine who will become dehydrated when and at what temperature.

To fight dehydration, the intake of fluids is necessary. The affected person needs to lie down and put his/her legs up as this helps to stabilize the circulation of blood and raise the blood pressure a little.

Cold compresses may be given if available to lower the body temperature. A doctor should be called without hesitation when deemed necessary, depending on whether or not the person has a chronic disease.
