Aereo TV will get Chromecast support on May 29

Aereo TVAereo Inc's pretty cool streaming TV service will soon also be available through the Google Chromecast as the company has decided to update the service to include support for Google's thumb-sized media streaming device.

Aereo Founder & CEO Chet Kanojia announced yesterday that the company's cloud-based antenna & DVR technology would be Google Cast Ready on 29th of May. He made the announcement at Fast Company's Innovation Uncensored conference that took place in New York City.

Making the announcement, he said, "We're excited that Aereo will be Google Cast Ready this May. Consumers deserve more options and alternatives in how they watch television, and our team is committed to providing consumers with the best experience possible using Aereo's innovative cloud technology."

Referring to Google's Chromecast, he added that Google was a pioneer in offering consumers more choice and flexibility in how they access and experience media.

The Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming dongle that can be plugged into the HDMI port on a TV. Setting this dongle up with a simple mobile app lets the user to stream and watch his/her favorite online shows, movies, music and all that on TV. 

Consumers residing in active markets of Aereo will be able to download the updated Aereo app for Android from the Google Play store.

Using Aereo's straightforward and user-friendly cloud-based antenna or DVR technology, users can pause, rewind and fast-forward any of their favorite programs that they are watching live. It also allows users to save a program for watching it in the future. The technology works with a range of compatible smart devices, including the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android devices running Android OS version 4.1 or higher.
