Airtel announces Free Upgrade to SMS 2.0 in partnership with Affle

Airtel SMS 2.0 for India consumersAirtel has launched SMS 2.0 in India in partnership with Mobile media company Affle. Affle currently provides services in Singapore, UK and United States. The upgrade of current SMS service to SMS2.0 will offer lot of innovative features to 5.5 crore mobile subscribers in India.

SMS 2.0 will empower mobile users with many enhanced messaging technologies which include addition of various combinations of text, background and emotions in their messages.

SMS 2.0 serves content in form of teasers while users are writing messages. Full Screen view also appears while sending message. For people using SMS, the new technology will offer many interesting options. Lot of content which includes Jokes, Astrology, Cricket, News and Updates will also be integrated in the new platform.

Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief of Marketing Division for Airtel Mobile Services said that with launch of SMS 2.0, Airtel will be able to gain market share among young subscribers.

Airtel has announced that the upgrade to SMS 2.0 will be free of cost. Airtel, being the first Indian mobile company to offer SMS 2.0, will get an advantage compared to BSNL, IDEA and Tata Indicom. BSNL has started marketing its services aggressively since last six months to compete with private players. BSNL has a wider range all over the country and the telecom operator has started offering better services to clients at affordable cost.
