Amazon announces to launch New Business Marketplace
Online retailer Amazon has announced on Tuesday that it is launching a new business marketplace, where business shoppers will be able to buy items that range from everyday office supplies to huge equipments like industrial deep fryers or tractor parts. The newest move by the company will help it to bring its expertise to wholesaling.
The new service has been named Amazon Business, which will allow enterprises to shop online for a number of things. In a statement, the company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, said that it will offer special services for businesses, which will include a dedicated customer support team.
Amazon vice-president Prentis Wilson said that a number of business customers love the convenience of shopping online. According to the customers, they want the company to provide experience at workplace that is similar to how they shop at home, Wilson added.
Wilson further said, "Amazon Business delivers a new and expanded marketplace that brings the selection, convenience and value of Amazon to business customers, manufacturers and sellers with the additional selection, features and back-end integration businesses need to save time and money".
The move by Amazon came with businesses increasingly going online for managing their everyday supply needs. According to estimates by Forrester Research, business to business ecommerce will top US$1.1 trillion and account for more than 12% of all United States sales in the segment by next five years.
Andy Hoar, analyst at Forrester, said that business to business buyers are expecting B2C-like (retail) customer experiences through online retail stores. They are growing increasingly impatient with business to business sellers that do not provide that experience, according to Hoar.
According to reports, businesses will be able to register for Amazon Business for free.
