Anand begins world chess title defence with a draw On Tuesday at the opening round of the World Chess Championship at Bonn in Germany, World Champion Viswanathan Anand displayed a fine performance when he took the match to a draw against Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik. 
 
The World Championship campaign was started by Anand with black pieces against Kramnik, and the match soon reached to a draw after 32 moves. 
 
This Championship will be played over 12 classical games. If in case a tie happens then the winner would be decided through rapid and blitz games. 

The Championship, which carries a total prize 1.5 million Euro has set a rule to equally divide the money between the two players, in spite of who the winner is.
