Angela Ahrendts becomes the highest paid woman executive in US

Last year, Angela Ahrendts, Apple's head of retail and online, was given around $10m more and it totaled around $83m. Bloomberg reported that Angela's salary is more than her head, Apple chief executive Tim Cook, was awarded $9.2m last year.

Ahrendts package included a signing-on bonus and a make-whole grant for awards left behind at Burberry. In January, Securities and Exchange Commission stated that she was given $73.3m.

Apple stated about the former chief executive of UK fashion retailer Burberry, "extraordinary addition to the company's executive team with the experience and ability to lead both the retail and online businesses".

Ahrendts handles Apple's retail and online sales and takes care of the operation and expansion of that section. It is said that she wants to concentrate on the company's growth in China. She was hired in the place of Dixons John Browett, who quit the position after six months in this role.

Apple's SEC filing unveiled that when Ahrendts transition package was to be considered then the Compensation Committee also looked at her compensation arrangement at Burberry and the amount to be received in the coming years.

An analysis was carried out of S&P Capital IQ and Bespoke Investment Group data. As per which, it was found that female CEOs make $18.8 million on average in comparison to $12.7 million for their male counterparts.

The data has also found that 455 current male chief executives 'have reported compensation data for the same time period'. By the Bloomberg Pay Index's Apple Senior Vice President Angela Ahrendts is the overall best-paid woman in the nation.

Oracle's Safra Catz was at the number two at $71 million. Marissa Mayer, Yahoo's CEO was at third number and has earned $59 million in 2014.
