Ballesteros set to fully recover within six months, brother saysMadrid  - Spanish former golfer Severiano Ballesteros will have fully recovered from recent health problems within six months, his brother Baldomero was quoted as saying in Spanish media reports from Monday.

Ballesteros, 51, has been fighting a brain tumour for four months and has already undergone several instances of surgery and chemotherapy in that effort. However, his condition has improved considerably.

"There is still a difficult way ahead. Seve exercises everyday. Doctors are completely surprised by his state," Baldomero Ballesteros said.

"His motivation is very high, but he needs patience," the former golfer's brother said.

Severiano Ballesteros collapsed on October 6 at Madrid airport and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumour. He was first operated on eight days later and has undergone surgery a total of four times.

He left hospital in early December, after two months of inpatient treatment.

The former Ryder Cup captain retired from golf in 2007 with a record of 87 titles, including three British Open and two US Masters crowns. (dpa)
