BBC has become a household name in Britain with its popular news broadcasting services.

It is believed that BBC News has gained a popular image in the UK, better than even the Armed Forces or the Royal Family, said the Director General of BBC Mark Thompson.

The statement from the Director General came at a time when he attempted to justify the amount of money that BBC gathers from its services, more precisely, the cost of the BBC World Service. This measure will soon witness cutbacks as the new government will be scrutinizing the efforts thus, keeping a close eye, which means that BBC can now put its point across before it can be criticized.

The reason for such success, the funding got through public money via the TV Licensing that makes it a Global brand. This licensing situation will soon be under the scanner and will be fought over in the coming months.
