Bhutto was concerned over lax security at Liaquat Bagh: PPP Senator

Lahore, Dec 29: Pakistan People's Party Senator Babar AwanPakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Babar Awan has claimed that Benazir Bhutto was concerned about the security arrangements at Liaquat Bagh and, she even pointed out her concern not once but several times during the public meeting.

"No vehicles were sent as requested by the PPP, and only one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) with three or four constable were present at Liaquat Bagh." the Daily Times quoted Awan, a PPP senator, as saying.

Awan clarified that the PPP is not leaderless and that there were many capable leaders to take up Benazir's political mantle.

Defense analyst and former General Talat Masood said Bhutto's death might lead to anarchy and chaos if the rulers did not respond to the situation reasonably.

Bhutto, 54, was assassinated on Thursday evening during a party rally in Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh area. (ANI)
