Bremen discuss Diego with Juventus

Bremen discuss Diego with JuventusBremen, Germany - Werder Bremen have held talks with Italian Serie A giants Juventus over their Brazilian playmaker, Bremen sports director Klaus Allofs has confirmed.

Allofs told Wednesday's local Kreiszeitung Syke newspaper that there had been discussions by phone with Juventus but "no negotiations."

"When a club has an interest (in a player) it's normal that you telephone each other," he was quoted as saying.

According to the newspaper, Juventus are prepared to offer 20 million euros (26.5 million dollars) for the player, while Bremen would like 26 million euros.

However Allofs said the club was keen to keep Diego "at least until the end of his contract in 2011 if not even longer."

Diego, who arrived from Portuguese club Porto in 2006, has been one of the Bundesliga's outstanding players in the last few seasons.

The 24-year-old told Wednesday's Sport Bild weekly he would discuss his future at the end of the season when there were three possibilities: to go, to stay or even to extend his contract.

"All my expectations have so far been fulfilled at Bremen. I am very happy and have a contract until 2011," he said. (dpa)
