BSNL inks pact with Sistema Shyam Teleservices

BSNL inks pact with Sistema Shyam TeleservicesState-owned BSNL has entered into a 10-year deal with Sistema Shyam Teleservices, a joint venture between Russia’s Sistema and India’s Shyam group, for provision of Bandwidth & Passive infrastructure sharing on PAN India basis for the rollout of their network.  

The deal would enable the CDMA operator to launch operations faster in the country. However, both parties did not give financial details of the deal.

Sistema Shyam, which is currently operating through 8,000 base stations, will now have access to around 45,000 BSNL towers across all its circles. Recently, telecom firm has launched its services in the Delhi circle and has plans to launch it in Jharkhand, Haryana, Karnataka, Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa soon.

It should be recalled that Sistema Shyam has already signed similar tower-sharing agreement with Tata-Quippo, Reliance Infratel and Indus Towers.
