BSNL Rolls Out Blackberry Service In India State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) and Research In Motion (RIM) rolled out the BlackBerry® solution for enterprise and individual customers with the BlackBerry® Bold™, BlackBerry® Curve™ 8310 and BlackBerry® 8700g smartphones.

BSNL clients can now enjoy the freedom and productivity advantages of using BlackBerry smartphones to stay connected to people and data while on the move.

The first BlackBerry smartphones to back up tri-band HSDPA quick networks will permit first time customers in India leverage of 3G services to its full potential.  

In a grand countrywide launch of BlackBerry service by Shri Siddhartha Behura, Secretary, DOT and Chairman, Telecom Commission made inaugural message to Shri Kuldeep Goyal, CMD BSNL at Chandigarh.

Sh. Siddhartha Behura, Secretary, DOT and Chairman, Telecom Commission praised BSNL for the launch of BlackBerry service. He also spoke regarding other telecom services and expansion of Broadband in BSNL.

He commented that the growth of broadband connections is higher than last year. He said that telecom is driver of economic growth of country.  

While commenting on this occasion, Shri Kuldeep Goyal said, “The BlackBerry solution and services has strategically expanded our gamut of services to our customers. The collaboration with RIM positions BSNL as the leading telecom service provider in India, offering efficient and quality driven mobile communications, such as the BlackBerry platform, thus meeting the telecommunication requirements of corporate executives and business professionals.”

Earlier in his welcome address Shri P K Paliwal, CGMT, Punjab Circle said that the Punjab Telecom Circle and the people of Chandigarh and Punjab are thankful to CMD BSNL for selecting Chandigarh as the city to have the implementation of the BlackBerry service along with its country wide launch from Chandigarh. Sh Paliwal informed that BSNL Punjab Circle has provided maximum GSM connections in the current financial year so far amongst all GSM operators in Punjab Circle. He also informed that 3G service has already been launched in Jalandhar city. 3G service will be launched in Bhatinda in next 3 days and in Pathankot and Kapurthala by 31st March 2009. IPTV service has also been launched in Chandiagrh and Jalandhar city. IPTV is going to be launched in Ludhiana and Patiala in April month.
