Calcium Is Essential For Strong Bones
The study led by Michael Huncharek MD, MPH, Director of the Meta-Analysis Research Group showed that the most American children and adolescents are not getting enough calcium that is a mandatory requirement for healthy bones, teeth and muscles.
The researchers analyzed the data collected from 21 clinical trails that involved 3, 8000 children. The intake of these children was adjusted according to the daily calcium recommendation issued by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Researches found that total BMC of the children whose calcium intake was below the required amount, was increased by 25 times.
According to USDA’s 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, children and adolescents should have three servings a day of low-fat or fat-free dairy foods. According to statistics, only 3 out of 10 boys and 1 in 10 girls in America have proper intake of calcium.
Researchers claim that proper calcium intake is essential for bone health of an individual. Researchers added that the intake of recommended amount of calcium can help in preventing future osteoporosis.
