California's jobless rate fell to 8.6% in May

California's jobless rate fell to 8.6% in MayAccording to the latest figures released, the total jobless rate in the state of California has fallen to 8.6 per cent during the month of May indicating that the economy is recovering as employers are now creating jobs at a faster rate than the labour force.

The unemployment rate of 8.6 per cent for May is its lowest level since five years. The state had recorded an unemployment rate of 9 per cent in April. The number of Californians without jobs has fallen to 1.5 million from a high of 2.3 million recorded in 2010. The improvement comes just years after the state had low number of jobs and one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

Experts said that the state employers are now creating jobs at a faster rate than the growth in the labour markets and indicating that the jobs market is strengthening. The unemployment level has fallen earlier but mainly due to people dropping out of the unemployment list and not because of more number of jobs. However, this time the recovery is expected to be stable in the jobs market backed by a revival in the housing market.
