Canon comes up with next-gen cameras
Canon India Pvt. Ltd. launched 20 generation-next cameras. The range is more advanced in terms of technology and features. It also unveiled a new series of DV Camcorders. These both were done by Canon's Imaging Communication Product division.
The series included three cameras in the IXUS range, five in the PowerShot range. Two standard-definition camcorders were also released along with six high-definitions ones and an EOD 550D digital SLR with high-quality lenses.
Two PRO DVDs were also launched during this time.
Also announced during the launch was the fact that Canon is going to invest Rs. 55 crore for marketing of its cameras in 2010.
Talking about this, Kensaku Konishi, President and CEO of Canon India said that the company is seriously expanding its product line. The USP of these cameras is that it will have cutting-edge technology. They will also be stylish and sleek in their looks.
But Canon, he said, has also tried to make the cameras as much user-friendly as possible.
Supporting his views and also adding about the plans of the company, Alok Bharadwaj, Senior VP, Canon India said that they are trying to tap the potential of low-penetration rate of cameras in India.
