CESC Q4 Net Rises 9.30%CESC has declared the results for the three months period ended March 31, 2009.

The company has posted a 9.30% growth in standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 2009.

The company has registered a net profit at Rs 940 million, as against Rs 860 million during the same quarter last year.

Net sales during the period under review surged 18.18% to Rs 7,540 million, whereas total income for the quarter climbed 13.97% to Rs 7,750 million.

CESC, a part of the RPG Group which has a strong presence in the fields of power generation, transmission network, cable manufacturing and consultancy, has posted 9.30% growth in its earning per share, which stood at Rs 7.52 per share during the fourth quarter.

During the financial year 2008-09, the company’s profit rose 15.49% to Rs 4,100 million from Rs 3,550 million in the last year.

Total income during the year came up 9.99% to Rs 31,940 million, when compared with the prior year.

CESC Limited was founded in 1899 and is based in Kolkata, India. The company’s principal activity is to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. It undertakes contracting and consultancy services.

The group has strategic tie-ups with a number of Fortune 500 companies.

Shares of the company, (on April 29) declined 0.64% to close the week at Rs 233.30 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The total volume of shares traded was 27,984 at the BSE. Current EPS & P/E ratio stood at 32.17 & 7.25 respectively.
