Chuck Robbins appointed as CEO of Cisco
Chuck Robbins will be the new CEO of Cisco. Cisco's Board of Directors made the announcement that the new role for Robbins will be effective from July 26, 2015. He has also been elected to the Board of Directors of Cisco and this position became effective from May 1, 2015.
From July 26, 2015, John Chambers will take up the role of Executive Chairman. Also, he will continue to be the Chairman of Cisco's Board. "This is the perfect time for Chuck Robbins to become Cisco's next Chief Executive Officer. We've selected a very strong leader at a time when Cisco is in a very strong position".
Chambers said that they have full confidence that Robbins will take forward the company with the pace required to grab the opportunities present in the market. It would not be wrong to affirm that he is a champion of the Cisco culture and has the needed ability to inspire, energize and execute the plans.
His vision, strategy and execution track is what Cisco needs at this point of time. In 1997, Robbins joined Cisco and since his joining, he has quickly moved up the ladder in the company. He started heading the company's global sales in the company.
He has helped lead and execute many of the company's investments and strategy shifts, which also included the industry's most powerful partner program, which is now worth more than $40B in revenue to the company on annual basis.
Robbins affirmed that he joined Cisco 17 years back. He joined the company because he wanted to be part of the organization, where according to him possibilities were limitless. Cisco under the vision and leadership of Chambers has become one of the most important companies in the world.
