Clinton to meet Pakistan foreign minister Washington - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will meet Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday as part of a strategic review of the situation in Afghanistan.

US State Department spokesman Robert Wood said the meeting is "part of the overall strategic review that we're having with regards to Pakistan and Afghanistan."

Clinton will on Thursday meet Afghan Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta and hold a three-way meeting with the two diplomats.

President Barack Obama is conducting a review of the conflict in Afghanistan and is seeking a comprehensive approach to deal with Taliban militants using Pakistani territory as refuge for carrying out attacks.

The Pakistani government has objected to US airstrikes along the border areas targeting the militants and al-Qaeda, but the attacks have continued. The United States has also sought to reduce tenstion between Kabul and Islamabad and encourage better cooperation. (dpa)
