Congmen ask Governor to go on leave

S F RodriguesA former mayor and top congress leaders of Chandigarh requested the Punjab's Governor and UT administrator, S F Rodrigues to go on leave to allow free and fair probe of the embezzlement cases pertaining to some mega projects in the city. The Governor and his advisor are alleged of offering various projects to the big business houses by flouting all norms and rules.

Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee general secretary, Subhash Chawla said, "The projects like multi-media-cum-film city and theme park have run into rough weather. Rodrigues & adviser Mehra had recently recommended an inquiry by an independent central agency into the film city project and questioned the formula used to fix reserve price for the medi-city project."

Congress demanded to introduce the post of chief commissioner in the city. Party also asked to probe earlier allotted projects in the city during the tenure of Rodrigues.

Senior leader of the party, Subash Chawla said that Rodrigues has soiled all democratic values in Chandigarh. He failed to convene meeting of the advisory committee of the administration for the last two years.
