Deadline for Filing Tax Return brings a lot of stress for many
Most of the taxpayers have already filed their 2014 returns. As per the Internal Revenue Service figures, as of April 3, the IRS had already received over 99 million returns and had issued more than 77 million refunds averaging over $2,800.
But still, there are millions of people who are in the category of those filing around the last day, April 15. Many taxpayers are now stressed out by the situation and some will seek a six-month extension.
If things don't come together on the deadline day, then as per IRS, you don't need to panic. There are tax-filing extensions which are available to taxpayers who need more time to finish their returns.
But you can't forget that this is an extension of time to file, and not an extension of time to pay. According to the IRS, taxpayers who are facing trouble in paying what they owe may qualify for payment plans and other relief.
In both the ways, taxpayers will be able to avoid stiff penalties if they file either a regular income tax return or a request for a tax-filing extension by tonight's midnight deadline.
The taxpayers must pay as much as they can to minimize any penalties and interest, but they should pay, even if they can't pay the full amount due.
The deadline day for paying tax brings along a lot of stress, due to which you need to keep certain things into consideration.
Zogby Interactive Survey found that for the 56% of US adults, the tax-filing process is stressful and 18% consider it 'very stressful'.
According to Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, the tax deadline day was tied as the second most stressful day of the year.
As per American Psychological Association, there are about 75% of Americans who cite money as a significant cause of stress.
