Distributors, theatre owners compensated to resolve ‘Kuselan’ disputes

Distributors, theatre owners compensated to resolve ‘Kuselan’ disputesIn a press meet held in Chennai, S. Saminathan, Managing Director of Pyramid Saimira - the sole proprietor entitled to the worldwide rights of film 'Kuselan' - announced that all disputes related to the movie Kuselan had been settled amicably between the exhibitors and producers of the film. Head of distributors' association, Kalaipuli Shekar, and distributors Thirupur Subramaniam, Rajamannar, Srinivasan and Kavithalaya Kandhasamy were present in the press meet.

According to Saminathan, the disputes were resolved in two phases - in the first phase, the company compensated for the loss incurred in the theaters where Pyramid had directly released the film; and in the second phase, it compensated the South Arcot and Chengalpattu area distributors and exhibitors who came forward for the settlement.

Saminathan elaborated that the producers of the film and Pyramid Saimira pooled in the compensation money; while distributors have already received their share, the theatre owners too will get their share soon, in a couple of days' time.

In his sharp reply to a question about the drop of Kamal's 'Marmayogi' due to the loss of 'Kuselan', Saminathan said: "We have postponed 'Marmayogi' for the time being, but will resume work soon..."

Saying that film industry too is reflecting the downtrend of the global market and the fluctuations in US dollar values, Saminathan added that many MNCs have begun operations in Kollywood. Terming all rumors about Pyramid Saimira as blatant lies, he said, the company has been able to avoid losses from the global crisis largely due to its meticulous planning.
