Don't have enough experience to be PM: Rahul Gandhi

Don't have enough experience to be PM: Rahul GandhiKolkata, Apr 25 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that if asked, he would refuse to take up the Prime Ministership as he does not have adequate "experience" to hold the post right now.

Addressing a press conference here along with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the 39-year-old leader said, "Now ... I would refuse. I do not think I have the experience to be the Prime Minister of the country right now."

When asked about a post poll alliance with the Left, Rahul maintained his party''''s stand saying, "Doors were open for all, not just the Left".

He, however, commented that the Left parties did not deal effectively with the issue of growth and development in the country.

He said that they do not have the right ideas as far as development of the nation is concerned.

The Congress, on the other hand, he said, was working towards development of a strong pro-poor youth party. He assured that he was determined towards the initiative, which has already borne fruit in Punjab and Gujarat.

Talking about the Babri demolition issue, Rahul accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of promoting divisive politics during the incident.

"Babri Masjid was broken by the politics of BJP, he said. "It was broken by the politics of division, it was broken by dividing Indians against Indians," he added.

Pranab Mukherjee also supported Gandhi by saying that the Congress'''' was only wrong in placing its confidence on then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, who had assured the Supreme Court that the Babri Masjid would be safe.

Mukherjee described Rahul as the star campaigner of the Congress. (ANI)
