Eeco – the Indian middle-class dream

Maruti-Suzuki-EECOAs the multi purpose vehicle (MPV) Eeco made its debut in the Indian market at the 10th Auto Expo in the Capital, the product has gained the sales figures of 7,000 units a month for the market leader.

Maruti Suzuki, which sells almost every second car being sold in the country, has been able to get its hands on the right spot as far as the positioning of Eeco is concerned.

In fact, the product came as a replacement for Versa which hasn't been able to do wonders for the company in the Indian market but the positioning of middle-class' big car has been able to get the desired volumes for the auto major in the Indian market.

The company on the other end, expected volumes to the tune of 2,000-3,000 per month but the 7,000 figure has kept the consumers waiting for around 2-3 months before they can get their hands on the product.

The Eeco consumer is one who wants to upgrade from Omni and is dreaming to own a bigger and better MPV. With the rising sales figures, Eeco is expected to be one of the best-sellers in the Maruti Suzuki's portfolio along with products like Alto, Swift, Dzire and WagonR.
