Paris - Eight people were slightly injured on Friday when a man began shooting at women coming to pick up their children at a nursery school in the French city of Lyon, France Info radio reported.

None of the injured needed hospitalization. In addition, no children were struck by the rifle fire, which came from a building situated across the street from the school.

Police surrounded the building in which the sniper was concealed, France Info reported. The children were immediately taken to safety in the school itself. (dpa)
