Madrid  - Defender Ivan Pillud from Argentine club Tiro Federal has joined Espanyol for an undisclosed sum, Spanish Liga club Espanyol said Monday.

Pillud, 23, will be on loan to Espanyol for one season, with the Barcelona club having an option to buy him in 2010.

He is an attacking right-back who caught the eye last season while on loan to Rosario team Newelll's Old Boys.

Pillud is Espanyol's third summer signing, after striker Ben Sahar from Chelsea and playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura from Celtic.(dpa)
