Exercise Hand in Hand: Sino-Indian soldiers do counter terror training

Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 9: Indian and Chinese soldiers underwent practical demonstrations and lectures on counter terror and insurgency in the mountainous terrains of Belgaum on Monday.

The first-ever Sino-Indian military combat exercise on Indian soil to counter terror and insurgency began here on December 6. The exercise will take place from December
6 to 14.

Commencing from the basics of surveillance, security of posts, search and destroy operations many other counter terror operations were demonstrated by soldiers of India and China.

Contingent Leader of the People’s Liberation Army, Senior Colonel Qin Xiang You interacted with the Indian soldiers, and said that there were many things in common between both the armies.

Senior Colonel Qin Xiang said there were many things to learn from from well-experienced Indian Army.

Commandant of the Infantry School Mhow, Lietanant General Jasbir Lidder, witnessed the demo session, and said: “With the growing menace of terrorism we need to keep pace with time. During the current exercise, both the Armies will definitely benefit from each other.”

The Chinese soldiers were also taken to the Commando Wing at Belgaum and introduced to rigorous physical activities, survival techniques and confidence building.

“When the going gets tough, the tough gets going,” the popular reference to the training of a commando was amply visible when Indian Commandoes demonstrated confidence exercises with high speed, agility and physical courage.

Volunteers from the Chinese contingent also took part in the practice.

During the course of the joint training, Chinese troops from the 1st Company of the Infantry Battalion of the Chengdu Military Area Command and Indian Army troops from 8 Maratha Light Infantry Battalion, undertook joint tactical maneuvers and drills; interoperability training and joint command post procedures.

The exercise will finally culminate in a joint counter-terrorist operational exercise with the enemy in simulated conditions. (ANI)
