Fate of Pak hockey team’s visit to India to be decided on January 2

Hockey Tournament Karachi, Dec. 31 : The decision on the proposed Pakistan hockey team's visit to India will be taken up for discussion in a high-level meeting in Islamabad on January 2.

"Representatives of the sports ministry and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will meet with foreign ministry officials in Islamabad on January 2 before a decision is taken over the issue," Sports Minister of Pakistan Pir Aftab Shah Jilani said.

"A decision would be taken whether to send our team to India after considering all the aspects," The News quoted Jilani, as saying.

Pakistan is supposed to feature in a four-nation tournament to be played in India. Germany and Holland are the other two participating countries besides hosts India.

The tour is an important event from Pakistan's point of view as it has not participated in any major hockey tournament since the Beijing Olympic Games in August.

It remains to be seen whether the strained relations between India and Pakistan and the recent cancellation of Pak tour by the Indian cricket, will have any effect on the fate of the hockey team's visit to India. (ANI)
