Father convicted in Missouri of killing babies born in an incestuous relationship with his teenage daughter
According to official reports, a father was convicted on Tuesday in Missouri of killing babies born in an incestuous relationship with his teenage daughter.
The Kansas City (Mo.) Star has reported that the jury, after a brief trial that included dramatic testimony from 20-year-old Ashley Rinehart, recommended her father, Daniel, receive the maximum sentence of life in prison for second-degree murder, felony murder and a long list of other charges.
It was further reported that Ashley testified on Monday, telling jurors her father began abusing her when she was 5. She had four children, including one who survived.
She described a wandering life in a camper with her parents and three sisters. After the family settled on Rinehart's parents' farm in Harrisonville, Mo., another daughter, Hayley, ran away and called police.
It has been reported that Police found the bodies of two babies in coolers at the farm.
Ashley also said that another child, Jack, died at 4 months when her father would not get medical treatment for him.
She testified again before the penalty phase.
She further said, "I did not want to be my father's sex slave. I'm still very sad that I don't have a mother and father who care about me." (With Inputs from Agencies)
