Federer to play in Paris

Paris - Roger Federer confirmed on Monday that he will play in this week's Paris Masters, a day after winning his hometown title in Basle for the third straight year.

The world number two had been in doubt for the final event of the regular ATP season, with his place in the year-ending Masters Cup already assured in Shanghai from November 9 onwards.

But the Swiss, who has a first-round bye at the Bercy event, was good to his word in a confirmation to tournament director Jean- Francois Cajolle. (dpa)
