Fifth Birthday makes IndiGo International

Indigo-AirlinesOn completing five successful years in the aviation industry, IndiGo has been permitted to fly abroad. India's largest low-cost carrier (LCC) IndiGo will start their first international flights to Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai and Muscat in August.

During last two months IndiGo has shown great progress in terms of market share. It has jumped from number four position to number two position and achieved equality with Kingfisher airlines.

In the coming months IndiGo will update the schedules and launch dates of the flights. The airlines had shortlisted 15 sectors in the Gulf, south and southeast Asia as destinations to fly this summer.

In winter when new fleet of planes will join, LCC will mark more sectors for their flights. It is expected that 14 more aircraft will join IndiGo taking the total to 48.

In August 2011, IndiGo will turn five, and what better gift it can expect other than receiving international traffic rights.

Senior officials of the airline said that they will just replicate the budget model of domestic flights in the international flights so that flying abroad does not remain unaffordable.

IndiGo has reached number two position in just one month in terms of number of passengers with 18.6% market share. Jet airlines remain the market leader with 25.4%.

IndiGo officials are running for number one position and expect to reach the top slot by next fiscal year.
