Freight train derailment to disrupt services at DerbyGovernment officials have said that the derailment of a freight train is likely to cause disruption in rain services in at Derby.

The services will be disrupted over the next few to allow repairmen to complete emergency repair work. The track was damaged after the freight train derailed at Barrow-on-Soar, between Leicester and Loughborough, on Thursday.

East Midlands Trains has said that it will run trains on a revised evening and early-morning timetable during the coming few days in order to allow Network Rail to remove the stricken wagons and make necessary repairs on the tracks.

Officials have said that not trains will run north of Leicester after 8pm today, tomorrow and on Monday. All services from the south, including London, will be terminated at Leicester and a limited replacement bus service will be provided to allow north bound passengers to continue on their journey.

On the other hand, there will be a reduced service after 4.30pm on south bound services. Some of the early morning services are also likely to be affected till Wednesday until the repair work in being carried out on the tracks.
