Firecracker explosion kills 29 in Rajasthan

The death toll in fire cracker explosion tragedy in Deeg of Bharatpur district has touched 29. It includes 11 children. Several other seriously injured persons have been hospitalized.

The explosion took place at Darukuta Mohalla in Deeg town in the house of two brothers, Sukha and Badle Jatav, while they were making crackers.

Bharatpur superintendent of police Rohit Mahajan said, "Preliminary investigations indicate that the blast might have been caused by a spark while crackers were being manufactured in the house."

Crime Branch issues notice to father, Nun to speak out today

The Crime Branch of Orissa Govt. has issued a notice to the Arch-Bishop Raffel Chinnath in connection with the controversial Nun rape case in Kandhamal. The notice was served, according to the provision 160 of Indian Penal Code. As father Chinnath has moved to the Supreme Court seeking CBI probe into the matter, The CB thinks that he might know the whereabouts of the Nun. State police has failed to trace the nun for last two months.

Rejecting the plea of father, The Apex court of the country had advised the Nun to cooperate in CB probe. 

Meanwhile the State Govt. expressed its willingness to conduct test identification (TI) parade at any place on the choice of the Nun.

CDC panel suggests pneumonia vaccine for smokers

A federal health panel has suggested pneumonia vaccine for smokers due to high risk of the disease for them. The recommendations of the panel are likely to be accepted by the CDC.

The vaccination program would include smokers in the age group of 19 to 64.

Statistical data indicates that smokers are about four times more prone to pneumococcal disease than nonsmokers.

According to CDC spokesman Curtis Allen, nearly one-fifth of U.S. adults smoke cigarettes. Allen said.
