GMC Sierra EV Denali debuts publicly, set to hit the roads in summer 2024

Representing a significant stride in the evolution of electric pickups, the highly anticipated GMC Sierra EV Denali has made its public debut, with a schedule to hit the roads sometime in summer this year. After being recently spotted undergoing testing in Michigan, images of the new EV have been shared by GMC and Buick Global Vice President (GVP) Duncan Aldred on his X account, showcasing the flagship trim level in all its magnificence. The snapshots provide an exciting glimpse into the battery-powered vehicle’s design and features, signaling its impending arrival on the roads sometime in the summer of 2024.

The images shared by Aldred capture the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 in its launch trim, which boasts a plethora of idiosyncratic design features. The EV features an illuminated grille, Denali-specific front bumper, reverse L-shaped daytime running lights, dual-color rims, and gloss black exterior details all contribute to the vehicle’s striking appearance. Remarkably, these elements echo the success of the Hummer EV Edition 1, which further solidifies the Denali as the epitome of loaded features and leading-edge design.

The interior of the EV takes innovation to new heights, thanks to its massive 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen (largest ever in a GMC Sierra), an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a multi-color heads-up display. All these features are powered by GM’s advanced Ultifi vehicle software platform that promises a tech-forward and immersive driving experience.

Under the hood, the Sierra EV Denali has a robust dual-motor powertrain, delivering an impressive 754 horsepower (hp) and 785 pound-feet (N.m.) of torque in Max Power mode. For power, it relies on a substantial 200-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is capable of delivering an estimated range of approx. 400 miles on a single charge. The 800-volt electrical architecture of the Ultium platform facilitates rapid charging, adding 100 miles of driving range in merely 10 minutes of DC fast charging.

The long list of innovative technologies includes a 4-wheel steering system with CrabWalk, SuperCruise hands-free driver-assistance tech, and the Power Station Pro offering off-boarding power of up to 10.2 kW.

Originally, the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 was slated to be launched in early 2024, but it was delayed by a few months. Priced at $107,000 (plus destination charge of $1,795), the upcoming EV claims the title of the most expensive trim in the Sierra EV lineup. GMC's lineup will also include entry-level Elevation and rugged AT4 grades, though these aren’t anticipated to be available before 2025.
