Government is determined to promote healthy lifestyle by investing Rs 1231 crore, in the coming next years.
The health program organized by the government includes prevention, detection and controlling the spread of cancer, diabetes, heart ailments and stroke.
The program is named as the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).
The government is expecting that around 7 crore adults will be monitored in this program across 100 districts in 15 states and union territories for diabetes, hypertension, early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases and treatment at early stages.
For the success of this program, government will give training to around 32000 people for screening, diagnosis and management of non-communicable diseases and program has gained approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday.
It is stated that out of the total amount sanctioned for promoting healthy life style, Rs 499.38 crore will be spent for intrusions on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and stroke, while Rs 731.52 crore will be spent for cancer control.
It is believed that 80% of the amount will be provided by the center and rest 20% have to be arranged by the state. In India, more than 42% of the deaths occurred due to the spread of non-communicable diseases and main motive behind the launch of such program is to promote healthy life style and reduce the mortality rate in India.
