Gujarat Govt. to issue health ordinance to control Hepatitis B epidemicAhmedabad, Feb. 27 : Gujarat Government will soon issue the Gujarat Public Health Ordinance following the recent epidemic of Hepatitis B in some parts of the state.

State Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas on Friday made the announcement in the State Assembly.

He said that the main objective of the ordinance was to secure the treatment of the patients by regulating health services provided by the private doctors and medical practitioners.

Under the ordinance, all private and public health service providers would have to make compulsory registration of Hepatitis B patients, Vyas said.

To monitor the provisions of this ordinance, Committee and Board will be set up at various levels.

After the outbreak of Hepatitis B in Modasa town and its nearby villages in North Gujarat, 49 people have died and about 165 people are undergoing treatment at various government hospitals in the state. (ANI)
