Half of British residents support more nuclear power plants
A poll released on Thursday said that while half of British residents support building more nuclear power plants, three-quarters worry about getting rid of the waste.
It has also been reported that Angus Reid Public Opinion said 51 percent of those surveyed support additional nuclear plants and 31 percent oppose them. At the same time, 75 percent expressed concern about nuclear waste.
They worry about health risks to people living near nuclear plants, accidents and terrorists seizing plants, said about two-thirds of respondents.
Asked about the best way to cut greenhouse gas emissions, 44 percent said nuclear power and 37 percent other forms of energy production like wind and solar.
Based in Canada, Angus Reid surveyed 2,011 members of its Springboard UK panel online July 1-3. The poll has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points. (With Inputs from Agencies)
