Harbhajan criticized by the Akal Takht for his Ravana act

Harbhajan Singh is in controversy again, well this time not for any indisciplinary action on the pitch but because of his act on the reality show. The Spin bowler who is making raves through the dance reality show ‘Ek Khiladi, Ek Haseena’ being aired on ‘Colors’ has been criticized by the Jathedar of the Akal Takht(Sikhism's highest temporal authority), for his recent act of endorsing the persona of ‘Ravana'.

Harbhajan popularly known as Bhajji wore a ‘tilak’ on his forehead while performing on stage as ‘Ravana’ while his partner Mona Singh, of Jassi fame became ‘Sita’. He was criticized for smearing a ‘tilak’ and hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community. The Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Gurbachan Singh asking for an apology from the cricketer said, “By presenting himself as Ravana and applying tilak, Harbhajan Singh has violated Sikh religious tenets, besides hurting the sentiments of the community. His make-up… was disgusting.”

However this is not for the first time the player will seek an apology as he has earlier apologized for the offer that he got to model for an advertisement of a liquor with a different hairdo. While the regret from the cricketer is awaited meanwhile Varinder Paryhar, who heads the Punjab Welfare Organisation has announced to burn an effigy of the cricketer on October 10, if he failed to feel sorry publicly.
